Dusky Antbird

Thamnomanes ardesiacus

The Dusky Antbird is a small, insectivorous bird found in the understory of humid forests in South America. It has a distinctive dusky plumage with a white throat and chest, and a long, slightly curved bill. This species is known for its skulking behavior, often foraging in leaf litter and dense vegetation for insects and small invertebrates. It also forms mixed-species foraging flocks with other antbirds and understory birds. The Dusky Antbird's vocalizations consist of clear, whistled notes and trills. While it is not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
