Dusky-green Swallow

Psalidoprocne nitens

The Dusky-green Swallow (Psalidoprocne nitens) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of Sub-Saharan Africa. This swallow is recognized by its glossy dusky-green plumage, with a slightly forked tail and a white underbelly. It is a highly agile and acrobatic flier, often seen darting through the air in pursuit of flying insects. The Dusky-green Swallow nests in tree cavities and crevices, and forms small colonies during the breeding season. Its melodious twittering calls can be heard as it forages for insects in flight. This species is not currently considered to be at risk, with a stable population and a wide distribution across its range.
