Dusky Lark

Alaudala cheleensis

The Dusky Lark (Alaudala cheleensis) is a small to medium-sized bird found in the steppes and grasslands of central Asia. It is characterized by its dusky brown plumage with streaks on the back and wings. This lark is known for its melodious and varied song, often performed in flight. It forages on the ground for seeds and insects, and nests in a shallow depression on the ground. The Dusky Lark is a migratory species, breeding in the summer and wintering in warmer regions. It faces threats from habitat loss due to agricultural expansion and overgrazing. Efforts are being made to conserve its grassland habitats.
