Dusky Lory

Ceyx melanurus

The Dusky Lory (Ceyx melanurus) is a small parrot species native to the islands of Indonesia. These colorful birds are known for their vibrant plumage, which features a combination of deep blues, reds, and greens. Dusky Lories are highly social and often form large flocks in their forest habitats. They are nectarivorous, feeding on the sweet nectar of flowers as well as fruits and seeds. These parrots are also known for their acrobatic flight and playful behavior. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, the Dusky Lory is facing conservation concerns.
