Dusky Myzomela

Dusky Myzomela, Myzomela obscura, is a honeyeater that breeds in southern New Guinea and northern and north-eastern Australia. It was described by Gould in 1843. In Australia it occurs in two separate parts of its range, one in the Top End and the other from Cape York Peninsula down the east coast to the New South Wales border. It is found in many habitats, including monsoonal forest, scrub, woodland, swamp and places close to water. Breeding is in the dry season, and the nest is a small cup placed high on a concealed branch over water.
