Antrostomus saturatus
The Dusky Nightjar (Antrostomus saturatus) is a nocturnal bird species found in the forests and woodlands of Central and South America. It has a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage during the day, and it is most active at dusk and dawn. This species is known for its distinctive churring call, which is often heard at night as the males perform their aerial courtship displays. Dusky Nightjars feed on flying insects, which they catch in mid-air using their wide gape and agile flight. They are relatively small in size, with a wingspan of around 50-60 cm. Although not much is known about their population trends, they are generally considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN due to their wide distribution and presumed large population.
