Dusky Swift

Psalidoprocne obscura

The Dusky Swift (Psalidoprocne obscura) is a small, fast-flying bird found in South America. With a streamlined body and long, pointed wings, it is well-adapted for aerial foraging. The dusky plumage of this species provides excellent camouflage against the sky, making it difficult to spot in flight. Dusky Swifts are often observed in flocks, darting and wheeling through the air as they hunt for flying insects. They are highly migratory, traveling long distances between their breeding and wintering grounds. Despite their small size, Dusky Swifts are remarkable long-distance migrants, navigating vast distances with precision and efficiency.
