Dusky-tailed Canastero, Pseudasthenes humicola, is a passerine of the Furnariidae that breeds in northern and central Chile. It was first described by Kittlitz in 1830. The species is confined to Chile, with its range running from the Antofagasta Region south to the Araucanía Region, and the nominate form reaching the northern Maule Region. It lives in dry shrubland, desert with scattered bushes, and the margins of dry forest, and in some areas it ranges into foothills. It stays away from settled places and is a year-round resident.
