Aethopyga duyvenbodei

Duyvenbode's Sunbird (Aethopyga duyvenbodei) is a small, colorful bird found in the montane forests of New Guinea. The male sports a brilliant metallic green plumage with a contrasting red throat and a deeply forked tail, while the female has olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts. These sunbirds are known for their acrobatic flight and their ability to feed on nectar from various flowers using their specialized, curved bills. They also consume insects and spiders as a source of protein. Duyvenbode's Sunbirds are often observed in the canopy of montane forests, where they forage for food and establish territories.
