Dwarf Tinamou Taoniscus nanus is a tinamou of the family Tinamidae, with breeding recorded in south-east Brazil and north-east Argentina. It is the only species placed in the genus Taoniscus. The bird is about 16 cm long and has a greyish-brown plumage, a pale throat, marked neck and upperparts, brown-barred buff underparts, and a blackish crown. Its iris and legs are dull yellowish. It lives in arid scrub grasslands in the Cerrado region and its voice is made up of high-pitched trills followed by peet notes.
