Vireo nanus
The Dwarf Vireo (Vireo nanus) is a small, insect-eating bird found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, pale underparts, and a distinctive white eye ring. This species is known for its high-pitched, rapid song that is often heard in oak woodlands and pine-oak forests. The Dwarf Vireo forages for insects and spiders in the canopy and understory of these woodlands. It builds cup-shaped nests in trees, using spider silk to bind the materials together. While the population size of the Dwarf Vireo is not well-documented, it is generally considered to be of least concern in terms of conservation status.
