East Brazilian Pygmy Owl, Glaucidium minutissimum, is a small owl of the family Strigidae that breeds in south-eastern Brazil and eastern Paraguay. It lives in tropical and subtropical moist evergreen forest, along forest edges, and in open bush canopy. One distinguishing feature is its rounded head without ear tufts, together with a pale greyish-brown facial disk marked by faint rufous rings. The eyes are yellow and the eyebrows whitish. The upperparts are dark rufous-brown with small white spots, while the underparts are pale with reddish-brown streaking.
