Eastern Bonelli's Warbler

Phylloscopus orientalis (Brehm, CL, 1855)

Eastern Bonelli's Warbler, Phylloscopus orientalis, breeds in south-east Europe and extends through western Turkey, Syria and Lebanon, with winter quarters in eastern Africa. It is a leaf warbler of forest and woodland, and a small passerine. The adult has a plain grey-green back, green-tinged rump and wings, and whitish underparts. Its bill is small and pointed, and the legs are brown. The sexes look alike. It lays four to six eggs in a nest placed on the ground. The species was described by Brehm in 1855.
