Eastern Crested Berrypecker, Paramythia montium, is a passerine of the Paramythiidae family found in montane eastern, north-eastern and south-eastern New Guinea. It was described by De Vis in 1892. It lives in high mountain forests and shrublands, and is best recognised by its black face mask, pointed crest and white eyebrow. Its plumage is mainly blue and green, with yellow undertail-coverts. Two subspecies are recognised: Paramythia montium montium in the eastern New Guinea Highlands and Paramythia montium brevicauda on the Huon Peninsula, with brevicauda having a shorter tail.
