Eastern Double-collared Sunbird

Eastern Double-collared Sunbird, Cinnyris mediocris, is a bird of western and central Kenya and northern Tanzania, where it occurs in upland and mountainous country. It lives in forests, upland pasture, heathland and bamboo between 600 and 1,500 m, and moves to lower ground after the breeding season. The adult male has metallic green upperparts, dark wings and tail, a red band across the breast and an olive belly. The female is olive above, with brown wings and yellowish-green underparts. Its bill is strongly curved and suited to taking nectar from flowers.
