Eastern Grey Woodpecker, Dendropicos spodocephalus, is a woodpecker of the Picidae family that breeds in the highlands of north-central Tanzania and Kenya, extending through eastern Sudan to central Ethiopia. It is a resident bird of eastern Africa. Its range is broad and it is fairly common. The adult male has a red crown and nape, while the female has a plain grey head without the red crown. It was described by Bonaparte in 1850.
