Eastern Yellow Wagtail

Motacilla tschutschensis

The Eastern Yellow Wagtail is a small passerine bird with a distinctive yellow plumage on its underside and a greenish-grey back. It is known for its habit of wagging its tail frequently while foraging for insects in open grasslands, wetlands, and agricultural fields. This species is highly migratory, breeding in northern Asia and wintering in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The Eastern Yellow Wagtail is known for its melodious, warbling song and is often found in flocks during migration. Its population is currently stable, but threats such as habitat loss and pesticide use in its wintering grounds may pose future conservation challenges.
