Machaeropterus eckelberryi
Eckelberry's Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the humid forests of South America. It is known for its striking plumage and unique courtship displays. The male has glossy black plumage with bright blue and white patches on the wings, while the female is olive-green with a cinnamon-colored throat. These birds are highly territorial and often form leks to attract females during the breeding season. They feed on fruits and insects and play a vital role in seed dispersal in their habitat. Despite their vibrant appearance, they are often elusive and difficult to spot in the dense undergrowth of the forest.
