Ecuadorian Parakeet

Psittacara euops

The Ecuadorian Parakeet (Psittacara euops) is a small parrot species found in the Andean cloud forests of Ecuador and Colombia. These parakeets are known for their vibrant green plumage, with a red patch on the wing and a yellowish-green face. They are social birds, often seen in flocks, and are known for their playful and inquisitive nature. Their diet consists of fruits, seeds, and flowers. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the Ecuadorian Parakeet faces conservation concerns. Efforts are underway to protect their remaining habitat and regulate the pet trade to ensure the survival of this charming species.
