Edwards's Fig Parrot

Psittaculirostris edwardsii (Oustalet, 1885)

Edwards's Fig Parrot, Psittaculirostris edwardsii, lives in north-eastern New Guinea, where it occurs in lowland forest and also in cleared places. It is a parrot with a stocky shape and a short tail, and the adult male is mainly green. Its face shows red on the cheeks, yellow on the ear coverts, and a yellowish crown. The throat and breast are red, with a dark band across the upper breast. The bill is dark grey-black, the iris red, and the feet dark grey.
