Elegant Pitta, Pitta elegans, is a passeriform bird in the pittas, breeding in Australasia across the Lesser Sundas and southern Moluccas. It was first described by Temminck in 1836. The species is found in Indonesia, with records from Timor and surrounding islands, Sumba, Flores, Lombok, Nusa Penida and the small islands of Tanahjampea, Kalaotoa and Kalao. Its natural habitat is tropical dry forest and tropical moist lowland forest. Four subspecies are recognised, and the sexes are similar.
