Xiphorhynchus elegans (Pelzeln, 1868)

Elegant Woodcreeper, Xiphorhynchus elegans, is a passerine of the Furnariidae that breeds in western and south-central Amazonia, including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It is a forest bird of humid evergreen woodland, especially terra firme and floodplain forest, and it also uses seasonally flooded forest, river islands, forest edges and secondary growth. In much of its range it stays below 600 m, though on the eastern Andean slopes it can reach 1,500 m. It is a year-round resident. A distinguishing feature is its longish, slim, nearly straight bill, and the sexes share the same plumage.
