Its caterpillars are known for their distinct elephant trunk-like appearance, and feed primarily on willowherb and bedstraw. The adult moths are nocturnal and are attracted to light sources. They are important pollinators, particularly for night-blooming flowers. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and pesticide use, the Elephant Hawk-Moth is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN due to its widespread distribution and stable population.
