Emperor Fairywren, Malurus cyanocephalus, is a bird of the Australasian wren family in New Guinea. It breeds in Australasia, and lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests there. It is the largest fairywren. The species shows marked differences between the sexes. Males have blue and black plumage, while females have blue and black only on the head, with the rest of the body rusty brown and the tail black with a white tip. Three subspecies are recognised, from north and north-western New Guinea, Biak Island, and south New Guinea and the Aru Islands.
