Epaulet Oriole, Icterus cayanensis, is a passerine of the Icteridae family that breeds across the Guiana Shield and Amazonia in South America. It was first described by Linnaeus in 1766. The bird is split into two subspecies, with the nominate form and chrysocephalus both recognised in current treatment. It is a resident species and stays in the same general area through the year. Its range includes the Amazon Basin, with the northwestern form reaching Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, the Guianas, northern Brazil and Trinidad.
