Equatorial Akalat, Sheppardia aequatorialis, is a bird of eastern and central Africa, where it breeds in the east and centre of the continent. It belongs to the Muscicapidae family and was described by Jackson, FJ, in 1906. Its natural home is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. The named form aequatorialis occurs in eastern DRC, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and western Kenya, while acholiensis is found in the Imatong Mountains.
