Ethiopian Bee-eater, Merops lafresnayii, is a bird of the family Meropidae that breeds in Eritrea, Ethiopia and eastern South Sudan. It lives in open montane woodland, including coffee and eucalyptus plantations, and is found on steep slopes as well as flatter parts of the Ethiopian plateau. It occurs at 1,000–3,200 metres. It is usually seen alone or in pairs rather than in groups. It perches in the canopy beside tracks and clearings, then drops to catch small butterflies, bees and other insects before returning to a perch.
