Eurasian Blackcap, Sylvia atricapilla, is a passerine of the Sylviidae family that breeds across central, western and south-western parts of the Palearctic and winters in northern, eastern and western Africa. It is a common and widespread warbler, usually found in mature deciduous woodland. The male has a black cap, while the female shows a reddish-brown one. The species is also known for its rich song, which can end in a high, ringing finish, though a plainer version is heard in some isolated places.
