Eurasian Crag Martin

Ptyonoprogne rupestris

The Eurasian Crag Martin is a small passerine bird found in rocky areas and cliffs across Europe, North Africa, and Asia. It has a distinctive dark brown plumage with paler underparts and a slightly forked tail. These agile birds are often seen darting and wheeling around their nesting sites, catching insects on the wing. They build cup-shaped mud nests on cliff faces, often in colonies. The Eurasian Crag Martin is highly adapted to its rocky habitat, using crevices and ledges for nesting and roosting. Although not currently considered at risk, potential threats to its habitat and nesting sites should be monitored to ensure the continued stability of its populations.
