Eurasian Crag Martin

Ptyonoprogne rufigula

The Eurasian Crag Martin is a small passerine bird found in rocky areas and cliffs across southern Europe, northern Africa, and parts of Asia. It has a distinctive dark brown plumage with paler underparts and a slightly forked tail. These agile birds are often seen in flight, darting and wheeling around their rocky habitats in search of flying insects. They build cup-shaped nests on cliff ledges using mud and grass. The Eurasian Crag Martin is a migratory species, spending the winter in sub-Saharan Africa. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and disturbance to nesting sites could impact their populations in the future.
