Ficedula hypoleuca

The European Pied Flycatcher is a small migratory bird found in Europe and western Asia. It is known for its striking black and white plumage, with males displaying a black crown and white wing patches. These birds prefer deciduous and mixed woodlands for breeding, where they build their nests in tree cavities or nest boxes. During migration, they can be found in a variety of wooded habitats. European Pied Flycatchers feed on insects, catching them in mid-air or picking them from foliage. They are considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN, although their populations may be declining in some areas due to habitat loss and climate change.
