During the non-breeding season, the male resembles the female, with a more subdued appearance. The female is brown and lacks the extravagant plumage of the male. This species is a brood parasite, laying its eggs in the nests of other bird species, particularly waxbills. The Exclamatory Paradise Whydah is typically found in open grasslands, savannas, and agricultural areas. Its conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
