Eye-ringed Flatbill

Rhynchocyclus brevirostris (Cabanis, 1847)

Eye-ringed Flatbill, Rhynchocyclus brevirostris, is a passerine of Middle America, breeding from southern Mexico to north-west Colombia. It belongs to the Tyrannidae family and was first described by Cabanis in 1847. It is a forest bird of humid evergreen and semi-deciduous woodland, cloudforest and nearby secondary growth, usually in the interior or along the edges. It is most often found from the lower understory to the middle storey, with a particular liking for shaded ravines. Its range is broad but patchy, and it is mostly a resident throughout the year.
