Eye-ringed Thistletail

Asthenes palpebralis

The Eye-ringed Thistletail is a small, inconspicuous bird found in the Andes of South America. It is characterized by its olive-brown plumage, a distinctive eye ring, and a slender bill. This species is often found in dense undergrowth and bamboo thickets, where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. The Eye-ringed Thistletail is known for its secretive behavior and is often difficult to observe. Despite its elusive nature, it plays an important role in the ecosystem as a predator of small insects. Its conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, although ongoing habitat loss may pose a threat to its populations in the future.
