Fea's Petrel

Pterodroma feae

Fea's Petrel (Pterodroma feae) is a medium-sized seabird that breeds on remote islands in the North Atlantic. It has a dark grey-brown plumage with a white belly and underwing. Fea's Petrels are skilled flyers, often seen gliding low over the water with graceful movements. They are known for their long migrations, traveling thousands of kilometers across the ocean. These petrels nest in burrows on steep cliffs and rocky slopes, where they raise their single chick. Fea's Petrels are highly adapted to a life at sea, feeding on fish, squid, and crustaceans. They are vulnerable to threats such as habitat destruction and accidental bycatch in fishing gear.
