Fearful Owl Asio solomonensis is an owl of Bougainville, Choiseul and Isabel in the northern Solomon Islands, where it lives in old forest from lowland sites to hill country. It is tied to tall forest and can occur up to 2,000 m above sea level. This bird is a forest owl and is known for its rufous face, white brows and white inner facial edge. Its plumage is mottled brown with deep ochre below and blackish streaking. It was described by Hartert in 1901.
