Fiery-shouldered Parakeet, Pyrrhura egregia, is a parrot of the tepuis in South America and belongs to the Psittacidae family. It was described by Sclater, PL, in 1881. Its range is tied to tropical rainforest on those table-top mountains, with records from Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela. Two subspecies are recognised, egregia and obscura. The first occurs in southeastern Venezuela and southwestern Guyana, while the second is found in southern Venezuela and northeastern Brazil. It also uses primary and secondary forest, woodland edges, and at times parks and gardens.
