Chaetocercus berlepschi
The Fiery-throated Hummingbird (Chaetocercus berlepschi) is a stunning small hummingbird found in the high-altitude cloud forests of Costa Rica and Panama. This species is known for its iridescent plumage, with a brilliant green back, deep blue throat, and fiery orange and yellow feathers on the throat and chest. The males have elongated outer tail feathers, which are used in courtship displays. They primarily feed on nectar from flowers and are important pollinators in their habitat. These hummingbirds are highly territorial and can be seen darting among the flowers and foliage in search of food. Their conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
