Fiji Goshawk

Neohierax insignis

The Fiji Goshawk (Neohierax insignis) is a small raptor endemic to the islands of Fiji. It is known for its distinctive dark plumage and piercing yellow eyes. This bird of prey is an agile hunter, preying on small birds, insects, and lizards. The Fiji Goshawk is often found in dense tropical forests, where it hunts from perches and uses its keen eyesight to spot prey. Due to habitat loss and predation by invasive species, the Fiji Goshawk faces conservation challenges.
