Dicaeidae — Flowerpeckers

Fire-throated Flowerpecker, Dicaeum luzoniense, is a bird of the Philippines, absent from Mindoro, the Palawan group and the Sulu Archipelago. It belongs to the flowerpecker family and was first described by Ogilvie-Grant in 1894. It is a montane forest species, with natural habitat in tropical moist mountain forest from 1,000 metres above sea level. It was once treated as part of the Fire-breasted Flowerpecker complex, but is separated by the red being concentrated on the throat rather than spread more widely.
