Fischer's Starling

Fischer's Starling (Lamprotornis fischeri) is a striking bird native to East Africa, known for its iridescent plumage and melodious songs. These starlings are medium-sized with glossy, metallic blue-green upperparts and a contrasting orange-red belly. They are highly social and often form large flocks, creating a spectacle with their synchronized aerial displays. Fischer's Starlings are primarily insectivorous, foraging in open woodlands, savannas, and cultivated areas. They are also known to mimic other bird species and are popular as cage birds due to their vocal abilities. Despite facing some localized threats, they are currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
