Fish Crow, Corvus ossifragus, breeds in eastern and south-eastern USA and is linked with wetland country there. It is a crow of the family Corvidae, first named by Wilson in 1812. The bird is often mistaken for the American crow, but it is smaller and usually shows a slimmer bill. Its plumage has a smoother look, with a blue or blue-green gloss above and a greener black below. It is most readily told from similar crows by voice, with nasal calls that differ from the familiar caw of the American crow.
