Flame-crested Tanager, Loriotus cristatus, is a passerine bird of the Thraupidae family that breeds in Amazonia in South America. It occurs in lowland forest across the northern half of the continent, with a broad Amazon Basin range and a separate coastal Brazilian population. The male shows a black head, a small orange-red throat patch and a moderate orange crest. Its upperparts are slate-black with a golden-buff rump, and the wing-coverts carry a large white area. The female is browner above and has buff-ochre underparts.
