Flame-crowned Flowerpecker

Dicaeum kampalili Manuel & Gilliard, 1953

Dicaeidae — Flowerpeckers

Flame-crowned Flowerpecker, Dicaeum kampalili, is a passerine of the flowerpecker family that breeds in montane Mindanao in the southern Philippines. It lives in tropical moist mountain forest, including mossy forest above 1,300 metres. Males show the flame-orange crown and vent that give the bird its name, while females are plainer and olive-toned. The species was once treated as the same as the Yellow-crowned Flowerpecker, but is now recognised as separate. Two subspecies are accepted, one across most of Mindanao and one in the west.
