Aethopyga guimarasensis
The Flame-templed Sunbird is a small bird species endemic to the island of Guimaras in the Philippines. It is characterized by its vibrant plumage, with males displaying a brilliant combination of red, orange, and purple feathers on their head and throat. Females have more subdued plumage with olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. These sunbirds are often found in forested areas, including both primary and secondary growth, as well as in gardens and cultivated areas. They primarily feed on nectar from flowers and also consume insects. The species is currently listed as Data Deficient by the IUCN due to a lack of comprehensive population data and ongoing threats to its habitat.
