Flame-throated Sunbird

Aethopyga mystacalis

The Flame-throated Sunbird is a small, vibrantly colored bird found in the montane forests of the Philippines. It is known for its striking plumage, with the male displaying a brilliant combination of metallic green and orange-red on its throat, while the female is more subdued with olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts. These sunbirds are nectar feeders and are often seen flitting among flowers in the forest canopy. They also feed on insects and spiders. The Flame-throated Sunbird is a delightful sight to behold in its natural habitat, adding a splash of color to the verdant montane forests.
