Flavescent Bulbul

Pycnonotus flavescens

The Flavescent Bulbul (Pycnonotus flavescens) is a medium-sized songbird found in Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive yellowish-olive plumage with a pale yellow underside and a black crest on its head. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the forest canopy. Flavescent Bulbuls are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits, berries, and insects. They are typically found in lowland forests, secondary growth, and wooded areas near human settlements. Despite facing habitat loss and trapping for the cage bird trade in some areas, the conservation status of the Flavescent Bulbul is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
