Nisaetus floris
The Flores Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus floris) is a medium-sized raptor found in the forests of the Indonesian island of Flores. This bird of prey is known for its striking appearance, featuring a dark brown body with white and black barred underparts, a prominent crest, and piercing yellow eyes. It preys on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, using its powerful talons and sharp beak to capture and consume its prey. The Flores Hawk-Eagle is an important predator in its ecosystem, helping to maintain the balance of the local food web. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, its conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
