Forbes' parakeet

Cyanoramphus forbesi

Forbes' parakeet (Cyanoramphus forbesi) is a small, colorful parrot endemic to the Chatham Islands of New Zealand. It has a predominantly green plumage with a red crown, blue primary feathers, and a distinctive yellow band across the forehead. These parakeets are known for their playful and social behavior, often forming flocks in their forested habitats. They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on seeds, fruits, and vegetation. Due to habitat loss and introduced predators, such as rats and cats, the Forbes' parakeet faces conservation challenges.
