Forest Raven

Corvus tasmanicus

The Forest Raven (Corvus tasmanicus) is a large, all-black bird native to Tasmania, Australia. It is known for its distinctive deep, croaking calls and remarkable intelligence. These birds are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, woodlands, and coastal areas. They are opportunistic feeders, consuming a wide range of food items such as insects, fruits, small mammals, and carrion. The Forest Raven plays an important ecological role as a scavenger and seed disperser. Despite being relatively common, habitat loss and human disturbance pose potential threats to their populations.
